Camshaft change needed?

Sooo my 8-year old Passport has not yet changed its camshaft. It only has less than 40K miles on it, so I'm not sure if I need to change it already? I'll appreciate any input from you guys!

My Passport has got 85k miles on it and 10+ years already on the belts, but I looked under and they all look fine. If you want to check how your timing belt looks like, you can peep through the small caps. They can be opened even if it doesn't seem like it. Since I had it I only changed the belts once because it was already at 125k miles (damn I do travel a lot hahaha). But yeah, AI search on Google says it should be done every 7 to 10 years but why do it if it still looks good? Just check for cracks or anything. You'll know when something is for replacement (or when the car should entirely be replaced hahaha).

whoever told you the camshafts need changing regularly is trying to rip you off or lying to you. with proper maintenance the camshaft could outlive the car so unless there's some catastrophic damage to the head you're fine

please don't give car advice to others, thank you. the belt goes after 5 to 7 years or around 60k to 100k. the visual inspection will reveal nothing so it's pointless in in many engines impossible. again, don't give this kind of advice and take your car to a mechanic

You might want to take your car to a mechanic to properly inspect it. @TheMessiah is right, i don't think you need to change the camshaft regularly
